Schedule
Location
Location
UNC Marriott Hotel and Conference Center-Charlotte, North Carolina
The UNC Marriott Hotel and Conference Center is located on the UNC campus. It is connected by light rail to the many attractions of downtown Charlotte, as well as the Charlotte Convention Center and The Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City. NoDa, Charlotte Motor Speedway and PNC Music Pavilion are also within easy reach.
Barcelona Wine Bar-highly suggested nearby restaurant
Getting to the UNC Marriott
There are several options to choose from. A taxi is about a 20 minute ride that costs around $45-50 one way or take a Lyft that is around $33 each way. You can also rent a car, book an airport shuttle or you can take a bus/light rail but it will take approximately an hour and a half each way but costs around $5. You can find more on the different options here: Airport Transportation.
LYNX Light Rail
The light rail system has two lines – Gold and Blue. The Blue Line runs along the Charlotte Rail Trail in Uptown, connecting southwest Charlotte to UNC Charlotte. This will be the one you will use. You can see a route map HERE.
You will want to use the JW Clay Blvd/UNC Charlotte station that is located right across the street from the hotel and take the Blue Line Southbound. In order to get into Uptown (Center City), you will likely want to get off at either 3rd Street/Convention Center or CTC/Arena. All stops in red on the map will put you in different areas of Uptown (restaurants are all around the city) and most of Uptown is very walkable. Optimist Hall (Parkwood stop) is a great location for dinners. There are tons of different local tenants (food, drink, retail) all under one roof, so there is truly an option for all palates, which makes it great for a group of people.
To purchase a ticket, you can visit a Ticket Vending Machine (TVM) located at each station platform, which looks like the below photo. Another way to get a ticket is to download the CATS-Pass mobile app, which enables you to purchase mobile tickets for the light rail and plan your routes. You can download the CATS-Pass app with this link and find information about how to use the CATS-Pass here. Adult one-way tickets are $2.20, and a day pass is $6.60.
